Cheers to that! Wetherspoon cuts the price of a pint to 99p

Cheers to that! Wetherspoon announces huge sale next month with discounts on Guinness at £2.89, Carlsberg at £1.99 and wide range of booze (and 99p coffee and soft drinks for those doing Dry January)

Wetherspoon will slash the price of a pint of beer to as little as 99p next month as part of a January sale.

Punters can grab a pint of Ruddles Best for the bargain price, which is nearly a quarter of the current UK average of £3.95 – as calculated by industry tracker CGA.

Other pints on offer from January 3 to 17 include Guinness (£2.89), Carlsberg (£1.99), Stowford Press cider (£1.69) and Bud Light (£1.69).

A 25ml Bell’s whiskey and mixer will be 99p, as will non-alcoholic options including a bottle of Beck’s Blue, a glass of Pepsi Max and cups or tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Other non-alcoholic beers, including Erdinger, will be £1.49.

Wetherspoon is putting a variety of drinks up for sale from January 3 to 17, with a pint of Ruddles Best costing 99p.

Some prices also vary due to different licensing laws across the UK, with drinkers in Scotland and Wales paying 10p more for a Ruddles than those in England.

Customers can also enjoy savings on food too, with porridge costing £1.49 and a breakfast muffin and a hot drink £1.99.

A 3oz burger, served with chips (with a soft drink) will cost £4.49.

A range of other drinks and food options are included in the sale, but not all pubs will have the same promotions.

Wetherspoon founder and chairman Tim Martin said: ‘Department stores and shops hold their sales in January, so it’s the perfect time to have a sale in the pub too.

‘The range of drinks and food on sale in the pub is aimed at suiting a wide variety of tastes.

‘This year we have included our biggest selection of low and non-alcoholic drinks. I believe that the January Sale will prove popular with our customers.

‘As always, staff at the pub will serve customers responsibly.’

The chain has struggled against the twin challenges of Covid and the cost of living crisis, and has announced a series of closures.
