Emmerdale releases new pictures from Cain Dingle’s special flashback episode

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale has released new pictures from Cain Dingle’s special flashback episode.

Much like EastEnders did earlier this year with Phil and Peggy Mitchell, Emmerdale plans to shed light on Cain Dingle’s estrangement with brother Caleb Milligan by looking back into their past.

New photos and a video have unveiled a trip back to 1991 on Boxing Day to show how brothers Cain and Caleb had their memorable first meeting.

The episode casts Aiden Kane, Riccardo Drayton and Maddy Barker as the younger versions of Cain, Caleb and Chas for a story that will explain why Cain has kept his brother a secret all these years.

To prepare for this very special flashback, the young cast met with Cain actor Jeff Hordley and William Ash, another Emmerdale newbie who is playing the adult version of Caleb in this ongoing storyline.

Photos and clips show the young cast on set filming their scenes with the episode’s director Michael Lacey, a veteran of more than 150-plus episodes of Emmerdale over the years.

Caleb arrives on the scene in present day to demand answers from Cain over why he wasn’t told their mother Faith had passed away recently – revealing he’d actually been told by Cain years ago that their mum was already dead.

“When Caleb visits Cain in prison, we will discover that Cain knew Caleb existed and he’s known about him for 30 years,” producer Jane Hudson told Digital Spy. On Boxing Day, we will rewind to 1992 and we will discover how Cain and Caleb first met, why Cain then rejected him from his life, and what was going on with Chas at that point.

“We have three fantastic actors playing our young Cain, Caleb and Chas. Aiden Kane, the actor who plays Cain, actually studied lots of footage of Jeff Hordley and his positions and his poses and how he speaks. It’s incredible when you watch.”
