Manchester United want Arsenal-linked Thuram to replace Ronaldo

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move to sign Marcus Thuram, and it looks like Manchester United want him as well now – to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Borussia Monchengladbach striker was a part of the French squad that suffered heartbreak at the final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Thuram only played 146 minutes of football in the entire competition, but he managed to pick up two assists – including one in the final for Kylian Mbappe’s second goal.

Now that the World Cup is done, the focus is on his future, and a report claims he’s seen as the man to replace Ronaldo at Manchester United. Arsenal, however, want to sign him as well.

Manchester United want to sign Arsenal target Marcus Thuram

German outlet BILD – as relayed by talkSPORT in English – claim that Manchester United are keen to sign Thuram in the January transfer window.

The Red Devils are said to be on the hunt for a replacement for Ronaldo, whose contract was terminated following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan before the World Cup.

Thuram, who Arsenal sent scouts to watch last month (90min), is reportedly the man Erik Ten Hag wants at Old Trafford, and the Frenchman will be available for a bargain fee.

The striker will soon enter the final six months of his contract at Borussia Monchengladbach. The January transfer window is the German club’s last chance to make some money from his sale, and they’ve set a very, very affordable price tag.

The report claims that Thuram will be available for as little as £10 million in January. That would be an absolute steal, and it’s no surprise at all that Arsenal, Manchester United and a bunch of other clubs are keen to sign him.

Arsenal and Manchester United could both do with a new striker in January.

The Gunners have been dealt a huge blow with Gabriel Jesus suffering a serious knee injury. It was claimed a couple of weeks ago that the Brazilian will be out for around three months.

That could really delay Arsenal’s season. Jesus is one of the biggest reasons why they are on top of the Premier League table, and without his goals, assists and work ethic, they could struggle.

With Thuram reportedly available for just £10 million next month, it would be wise of Arsenal to bring him in. However, with Manchester United and numerous other clubs also in the race, it will not be easy to sign him.
